VIDEO: New Community Coach Liam Hearn excited for new season

2 weeks ago By Josh Wing

Basford United Striker and Community Coach Liam Hearn reflects back on last season while giving his thoughts ahead of the new campaign.

Swapping the hot sun of Magaluf for the refreshing temperatures of Basford, Liam Hearn is back at Greenwich Avenue and ready for the new season.

Scoring various goals for Basford as striker, Liam is now taking on more responsibility as community coach.

Despite the added role, Liam is looking forward to the challenge saying ‘It’s just something that I’m relishing. The chance to work with my own team and learn from the Gaffer is something incredible for me- my development as a coach and to help the youngsters through the grass-roots’.

Meanwhile as a player, Hearn believes the side shouldn’t worry about the jump up to a new division; ‘A few our lads have played higher - myself included - so we will bring a vast amount of experience to the younger ones to help deal with situations in difficult games’

Overall Liam is confident the combination of all those associated with the club will help push Basford United in the right direction. Hearn said,’ I think if we put it all together and create one big family, we’ll do incredible things going forward’

Where next?

Basford round off the season in disappointing style but what a brilliant season Despite the immense disappointment that debut in the Evo-Stik concluded in disappointing fashion last night, it should not detract from a fine season.
