United Ready For Evo-Stik Debut At Gresley

3 years ago By Simon Ball-McQueen

Basford United are preparing face a tough Evo-Stik League Division One South debut this Saturday, as they make the short trip to South Derbyshire.

United manager Martin Carruthers has a strong squad to choose from for the club’s trip to Gresley and their first foray into Step 8 of the football pyramid but speaking in an recent interview with the The Non-League Paper, the former Aston Villa and Stoke City striker remained bullish about Basford’s chances in their new division, saying;

“We’ve progressed in a short space of time so we’ll be a bit of an unknown quantity and some clubs may take us lightly.

“We definitely haven’t come into the league to make the numbers up. We’re here to show this level what we’re about and have a real go.

“We want to progress even further and put Basford on the footballing map. I think we’ll cause a few surprises this season.”

Gresley will have the advantage of a home crowd, the experience of two previous campaigns in the division and an impressive fifth-place finish last season, leaving United knowing they will have to put in an impressive performance if they are to take anything away from the Moat Ground.

Admission prices are £8 Adults, £5 Concessions and £1 for a child under 12 years with an accompanying adult. Directions to the ground can be found on Gresley’s official website.

Don’t forget that there will be a supporters bus leaving Greenwich Avenue at 12.15pm on matchday, costing just £5 return.

To book a seat on the bus please contact Danny England on 07507666070 or email dannyengland@basfordunitedfc.co.uk.
