Tommy Kemp inspires Basford United victory

Tommy Kemp inspires Basford United victory against hard working Blidworth Welfare FC.

Basford started the game well and were 1-0 up within 7 minutes, a Basford freekick from outside the Blidworth ares wasn't cleared and Tommy Kemp went on a weaving run before laying the ball off for Courtney Hastings to sweep into the visitors net. With the wind behind their backs Basford continued to keep the pressure on in the early stages. Blidworth had a slice of good look on 20 minutes when Rusharn Bennett slipped when trying to pass back to the keeper. He lost possesion and the Blidworth striker ran on to stroke the ball into the Basford net.

The game deteriorated and became very scrappy. The Referee was involved in many contentious decisions and Basford recieved several yellow cards before half time, infuriating joint manager Darren Saunders. The second half began with Blidworth putting the ball in the Basford net, the goal looked good but luckily for Basford, the Referees Assistant flagged for offside. Tommy Kemp was causing the Blidworth defence problems and midway into the second half he made it 2-1 when he dribbled his way past four defenders before shooting into the net past the stranded keeper.

Kemp hit the side netting when left with a one on one with the keeper. The Blidworth keeper was again on hand to save at the feet of Kemp two minutes later. A cross from Kemp found Ben Middleton whoose header went over the bar from eight yards out. Blidworth although under pressure for most of the second half were still able to create several chances
