Wilson signs, Grantham returns

By Neil McGowan

Basford United are delighted to announce the signing of Ryan Wilson and the return to the club of Courey Grantham.

Wilson, 26, is a full back and is the son of former Chelsea and Notts County player Kevin Wilson. He is pictured above, with Liam Hearn.

Ryan most recently played for Telford United, where he was an ever present in 2017-18. He was capped at Under 18 level for Northern Ireland and has also played for Alfreton Town, Gateshead, Ilkeston and Stockport County.

Courey Grantham needs no introduction as he returns to Basford just four weeks after having left for Hednesford Town.

Both players go into the squad for tomorrow's game against Gainsborough Trinity.

Liam Hearn commented:
"We're delighted to sign Ryan, who was aformer team mate of mine at Alfreton, he has great ability and is a real box-to-box player who can play in midfield or at the back.

"It's great to have Courey back, he is a real character, is bvery popular with the fans and players and has great potential which we are loooking to see him develop.

"With the signing of Brad Gascoigne last week, we've strengthened the side, we are not too far off the play-offs, but are taking one game at a time and seeing where that takes us.

"We have a very big game against Gainsborough and will need to be at our best to get a result".
