Tulips at the Avenue on Saturday

11 months ago By Neil McGowan

Spalding United are the visitors to Greenwich Avenue this Saturday (3pm) in a first team fixture that students and families can watch at cut price.

Students can watch the game for just £1, with family tickets of £5 giving entry for up to two adults and up to two children.
Normal admission prices of £7 adults, £4 concessions apply to all others.

Martin Carruthers said:
“We have a few problems with injuries, Laurie Wilson and Courey Grantham are both out and not expected back until December. Dom Roma and Matthew Thornhill have both been struggling and are doubtful for Saturday's game.

“Lads are being nursed through sessions just to get them through games at the minute. We will assess the situation after Thursday training and may look to add a couple of bodies if we think it is required.

"Spalding are a very dangerous side and we were quite lucky to come away with three points at their place early October.

"We will need to dig deep again and show resilience like last week at Peterborough Sports if we are to maintain our promotion challenge and unbeaten league record."

Squad: Deeney, Bartle, Grayson, Meikle, Nash, Carr, Roma, Thornhill, Fenton, Wells, Hearn, Reid, Wakefield, Austin, R Duffy, Harrison, Tabreham.

When the teams met at Spalding just over a month ago, we won 3-1 in a game which got off to an explosive start with three goals in the opening quarter of an hour. After an own goal put us in front in the third minute, Liam Hearn (pictured above) doubled the lead after 11 minutes before Gary King pulled one back three minutes later. Hearn scored another in the second half to clinch the points.
