Start of a busy week as Basford contest Senior Cup Final on Tuesday

By Neil McGowan

On Tuesday we meet Carlton Town in the final of the Notts Senior Cup at Mansfield Town's One Call Stadium (7.45)

High on confidence Basford head into a pivotal week for the club, this all starts Tuesday as the club look to retain the Notts Senior Cup facing Carlton Town FC in the Final at the One Call Stadium home of Mansfield Town FC.
Despite competing at a higher step on the Football Pyramid the club will be taking nothing for granted against a Carlton team who have nothing to lose & will be formidable opponents.
Manager Liam Hearn understands the importance of the game & the chance for him & Dom Roma to secure their 1st silverware for the club. Commenting Hearn stated " For me & Dom to be leading the team out Tuesday at one of my old clubs with the chance of silverware is something very special too me. I had many great times at Mansfield & its so fitting to bring my team to Mansfield for the chance of Cup success. This promises to be a very difficult game so we will not take nothing for granted."

Tuesday marks the start of a busy week for the club with the Academy playing Eastwood CFC Weds & then following this with the next batch of trials for our SCL educational trials of Friday 1.15pm registration. Hearn against comments " The trials on Friday are an opportunity for any budding youngsters to join our excellent U16-U19 Educational program"
With likely from the batch of this years recruits with a clear pathway for a select few to expected Full time Professional status from the summer of 2020 then the trials are the 1st stage in putting your talents forward.

Finally to cap a great week United will travel to title challenging South Shields Sat for an Evo-Stik game that could have a big bearing on the ultimate location of the Evo-Stik Premier Division Title & possibly keep United's faint playoff hopes alive.

So all in all a massive week for Basford United Football club.
