Ahead of the game aginst the world’s oldest football club, Martin Carruthers said:
“Sheffield have always given us tough games and Saturday will be no different. Although they are at the wrong end of the table they have produced some very good one off results and performances. Although it was a good win in the cup against Teversal we know we need to be better if we are to get a big three points.
“Aidan Austin may be back in contention, we will assess him after training and we may include another goalkeeper dependent on availability. With recent postponements we may look at rotating one or two just to keep everyone fit and fresh but it’s always difficult to do this when winning games.
“Although it’s not ideal with the recent rush of postponements it is going to be hard for the chasing pack to keep getting positive results with 2-3 games per week and injuries, suspension and fatigue could certainly help us in the later stages of the run in.
“We have to focus on winning our home games and keep our destiny in our own hands. It's much better to have points on the board than games in hand. I think there are now 4-5 sides who will feel they have a chance of promotion now.”
When the two teams met earlier in the season at Sheffield’s Coach and Horses venue, we came from behind to win 2-1. Jack Brownell gave Sheffield the lead with a penalty six minutes before half time. We started the second half with a flourish, Kieran Wells levelling after 51 minutes and James Reid scoring what proved to be the winner four minutes later.
On Saturday Community are at Real Community in the quarter final of the Notts Senior League Cup.
After suffering narrow defeats in their last two league game Community will be looking for a return to winning ways in the League Cup.
