Non League day & Basford reach out for your support for the FA Trophy on Saturday & Gresley in league action Monday.

1 year ago By Neil McGowan

With No Premier or Championship football on Saturday then Basford will hope to attract local fans to these 2 big games.

Having just missed out on the final qualifying round of the Emirates FA Cup last Sat in heart breaking fashion on Saturday v Kettering then the Non league equivalent kicks off on Sat.

With no Premier league games & no Forest game then why not come and support Non League day and visit up and coming Basford. With the team in fabulous form and the ground voted in the top 3 in spectator experience and value, then we provide a viable alternative with excellent quality football and low priced but high quality food and beverages.

The First Team kick off the campaign Peterborough Sports in the Preliminary Round of the Buildbase FA Trophy on Saturday. The game, at Greenwich Avenue, kicks off at 3 pm and the ground situated behind the Highbury Vale Tram stop.

Martin Carruthers is keen for the team to start another cup run after the FA Cup exploits, saying:
"The Trophy is another game that we want to win. We enjoyed the run in the FA Cup and want to repeat it in the Trophy. The team are developing a winning mentality which applies to every game in whatever competition we are in.

"We know Saturday will be a tough game as Peterborough will want to progress as much as we do. They did very well last year and have had some good results in the Evo Stik League this season.”

Carruthers was delighted with the performance of Jacob Tabreham in the midweek win at Spalding:
“Jacob was outstanding, he stepped up into what was a very tough game and did all that was asked of him. He was thrown in at the deep end and did very well. We hope to see more of the young players from the Academy coming through into the first team.”

Basford squad: Deeney, Bartle, Grayson, Carr, Wilson, Roma, Reid, Meikle, Fenton, Wells, Hearn, Grantham, Thornhill, Wakefield, Tabreham, Brown, Graham, Cameron.

Prices are the same as for league games; £7 adults, £4 concessions, £1 Under 16s.
The game is all pay, season tickets are not valid.

If the game ends in a draw, the replay will take place at Peterborough Sport’s Lincoln Road ground next Tuesday, 10th October, kick off 7.45.

If no replay Basford will look to go top of the Evo-Stik NPL South division Monday entertaining local Derbyshire rivals Gresley FC 7.45pm again at Greenwich Avenue.

The Community team are also in cup action on Saturday, away at Real Community in the Notts FA Intermediate Cup Preliminary round.
The game is at Stoke Lane, Stoke Bardolph, Nottingham. NG14 5HX, kick off 2.30
