Two 1st half goals from the Current Evo-Stik South leading marksman Liam Hearn & a late 3rd from Aidan Austin sealed 3 more points in Basford’s quest for promotion.
A very good 1st period brought its just rewards as Basford went in 2-0 at the break & in general moved the ball well in front of another very decent following on a cold day.

Liam Hearn opened the scoring on 5 minutes finishing off a neat passing move and given an opening from Rob Duffy to finish.

Peterborough Sports who really surprise is in their current league position, and in 3 games this season all have been really closely contested again gave a really good account. The visitors went close when a dangerous cross was partially cleared but only to Avelino Viera’s who had a shot saved by the legs of Saul Deeney.
Liam Hearn shot against the post and then powered through to double the lead after 31 minutes.

The visitors started the second half brightly and Saul Deeney had to be alert to tip over Lewis Hilliard’s header.

Despite a spirited approach Peterborough failed to trouble a resolute Basford defence and seven minutes from time United youngster Aidan Austin notched Basford’s third. A defence splitting ball from James Reid released Austin to coolly finish for 3-0 and round off the scoring (Headline Photo Aidan Austin ready to start his goal celebration).
Added bonus for Basford saw Matt Thornhill back in action for the last 20 minutes returning from his serious head injury on News Years day.
