Despite the blank weekend on the field, in a hugely significant move the club secured the long term future of management duo Martin Carruthers and Mark Clifford on 2 year deals, as well as signing exciting youngsters Fernando Bell-Toxtle and Harry Wakefield on one year deals.

Martin Carruthers will become the first full time manager in the recent clubs history overseeing the first team and our exciting Football Educational Academy.

Commenting Chairman Chris Munroe stated:
"This is a momentous period for the club securing Martin and Mark to long term deals, which means we can set about our objectives with certainty and plan for an exciting future.

"The clubs achievements and successes so far this campaign have been outstanding, but we know where we want to take this club and we are not even half way through this journey, and we are delighted to have Martin and Mark heading this up. Certainty provides stability so I am very happy and excited. ”

Martin Carruthers said:
“I am also delighted that both myself and Mark Clifford have secured our own futures with the club. The chairman has shown his commitment to us with two year deals ,and we are both honoured to be able to continue to take the club to another level.

"We have had an unbelievable season and all our hard work thus far has paid off and the dream of promotion to step 3 will hopefully be confirmed by the end of this month. Thanks for your support Chris and we will continue to work tirelessly to bring more success to the club. “

As revealed on social media today Basford have rewarded two of our excellent youngsters with professional contracts with both 19 year old Fernando Bell-Toxtle and 18 year old Harry Wakefield penning deals until May 2019.

Martin and Mark are delighted to secure the signing of these two lads and others will follow as the club builds on its excellent policy of top quality youngsters, with quality experience running throughout the group.

Carruthers added:
“I am absolutely delighted to secure the futures of two of our up and coming stars. Fernando has surpassed all our expectations and he has done unbelievably well since joining us. We knew he could play, but we did not expect him to start as many games as he has, and certainly did not expect him to perform to the high levels shown thus far. Well done Fernando and fully deserved.”

“Harry has come on leaps and bounds this season and he has forced his way into first team reckoning via sheer hard work and a great attitude and work ethic. Harry is a natural goal scorer there is no reason why even at such a young age why he can’t be pushing for a regular place for the new season. Well done Harry and keep up the good work. “
