The best way to keep up to date with Basford United Football Club

Kettering Town FA Cup preview

3 months ago By Neil McGowan

On Saturday we welcome Kettering Town to Greenwich Avenue in the Third Qualifying Round of the Emirates FA Cup (3.0)

It is the first time Basford have reached this stage of the competition and we face a Kettering side who sit top of the Evo Stik Southern League.

Martin Carruthers said:

"It's a really tasty encounter as both teams are flying right now. We are still unbeaten and Kettering have had some great results to put them clear at the top of their league.

“Kettering are a massive club in non-league and are rebuilding and regaining their old status. They have an excellent and experienced management team with people such as Marcus Law and John Ramshaw and some excellent players. We saw them beat Banbury the other night and were very impressed with them.

"It will be difficult but if we raise our game to what we are capable of then we have a chance. On our own pitch we will be giving it a real go.”

Liam Hearn returns after missing the last three games due to suspension.
Squad: Deeney, Grayson, Bartle, Wilson, Roma, Carr, Reid, Fenton, Meikle, Hutchinson, Hearn, Wells, Thornhill, Grantham, R Duffy, Brown, Wakefield, Mancinelli, Gayle.

Admission: £10 adults, £5 concessions (over 60s, students), £1 Under 16s.

Car parking is available on site from 1pm at a cost of £2 per vehicle.

If the game ends in a draw, the replay will take place at Kettering on Tuesday 3 October.

To reach this stage, starting from the Preliminary Round, we have beaten Staveley Miners Welfare 1-0, Halesowen Town 3-0 and Mickleover Sports 1-0.

Kettering entered the competition at the 2nd qualifying stage, where they defeated Kidsgrove Athletic 2-0.

The match is sponsored by Liberty Gate, the Nottingham based independent Estate Agency, Selling, Letting and Property Managing residential property.
