FA Trophy at Stourbridge Saturday

1 year ago By Neil McGowan

On Saturday the First Team face a testing Buildbase FA Trophy tie at Stourbridge, whilst Community meet Attenborough at Greenwich Avenue (both 3.0).

The First Team travel to Evo Stik NPL Premier Division side Stourbridge in the First Qualifying Round of the Trophy.

Martin Carruthers said:
"When we have met teams from a higher standing our players have responded magnificently, which has gained us two wins from games with teams in a higher placed league, as well as pushing Kettering Town all the way in the FA Cup.

"It's a mammoth game on Saturday against a very good side, on their own ground and in front of their home crowd. They have some quality players in all positions.

"Our long term aim is to get promoted to a level where were are playing the likes of Stourbridge regularly and games such as Saturday’s give us experience of the standards at where we want to be. It’s also good to compare ourselves with clubs like this.

“We’ll be going there to have a real go at winning the game and I'm confident we have the players to put in a good performance that will do the club and Nottinghamshire football proud."

Laurie Wilson misses the game through injury.

Community entertain Attenborough in the Notts Senior League Premier Division looking to get back to winning ways after a disappointing loss to Wollaton last week.

Team manager Michael Leslie commented:
“The only way to describe the last three weeks would be a rollercoaster ride. We have had some great high points, with so many of the CFC squad stepping up into the first team squad following some fantastic performances.

“Notably, some CFC players played a integral role in a night to remember away at Belper, managing to survive with 10 men for 70 minutes against a very strong side to come through and win on penalties. With all ups must come downs too, and most recently a significant low point was being beaten by Wollaton last week 3-0.

“We will develop and learn from the Wollaton defeat, and will be looking for immediate reaction and response from the players this week”.
