Basford officials are delighted to report the conclusion of transfer dealings for 21-year-old goalkeeper Kieran Preston from last seasons Evo-Stik Premier Division playoff finalists Grantham Town.
Kieran - voted by his peers as the best goal keeper in the Evo-Stik Premier Division last season - is a massive statement of intent from Basford.
Still at a young age, the 'keeper has all the ingredients to push on and there is no reason he cannot become a Football League player in due course.
United have paid an undisclosed fee and signed Kieran on a two year contract.
Chairman Chris Munroe would like to thank Vice-chairman Tom Brookbanks for working tirelessly to get this over the line.
Chris also welcomes Kieran stating; ‘For Basford to secure arguably the best 'keeper from last season from a play-off contender at our new level is a massive achievement and we welcome Kieran to our club having sold him our dream’.
Preston has a number of clubs to his name already with Nottingham Forest, Stafford Rangers, and Bristol Rovers but said he is pleased to join Basford; 'I can't wait to get started and so happy the deal got over the line so quickly'.
He also made 56 appearances for Grantham last season- the joint highest for the club during the 2017/18 campaign.
Kieran's ability has previously paved way for two international appearances for Scotland U19s.
That takes Basford’s new additions to three so far with Ellis Storey and Liam Bateman secured. However, the pre-season activity may not yet be complete for Basford.
