The sides were due to meet at Lincoln, with the return at Basford taking place later in the season.
However the fixtures were reversed, the Greenwich Avenue 3G being better placed to face the current sub-zero temperatures.
Martin Carruthers said:
“We switched the Long Eaton under 19 game in midweek to Greenwich from Long Eaton and got that played so hopefully we can get the game on. It will benefit both teams as neither want a culmination of mid week fixtures late on in the season. I’d like to think unless a dramatic fall of snow on Friday or Saturday then the game will be on.
“Training has not been affected and we had a good blast on Tuesday night and then spent some time reviewing the Gresley game. Some home truths were mentioned and we will give them the benefit of the doubt but we expect a big response against Lincoln as we want to make the most of being able to get our game on. We will train as normal Thursday and prepare as professionally as possible in the icy conditions.
“It will be the same squad as at Gresley with hopefully Jerry Nash back in contention.”
This will be the first time the teams have met this season. They were scheduled to meet at Lincoln in September but that was postponed due to our involvement in the FA Cup. The game was re-arranged for a month ago but called off due to a frozen pitch.
