Basford go to South Shields, Community home to Ravenshead Saturday

By Neil McGowan

Basford United travel to South Shields on Saturday and Community play Ravenshead at Greenwich Avenue (both 3pm kick off).

Liam Hearn commented:
“It’s a tough test for us against a side who are regarded as one of the best in the Division and are pushing for automatic promotion.

“They have quality running through their side but then so do we. We have put together some good performances recently and have kept clean sheets in three of our last four matches which is very encouraging.

“it was great to go to one of my former clubs on Tuesday and lift the Notts Senior Cup and the same applies to those of our players with Stags connections.

“We will going to South Shields confident of getting a result. It won’t be easy, but we believe we can win our remaining games and see where that takes us."

Ground address: Mariners Park, Shaftesbury Avenue, South Shields NE32 3UP.

Admission: Adults £10, Over 65, Students £8, Child 13-16 £3.
£1 discount on the above prices is available by buying tickets in advance from the South Shields website - https://tickets.southshieldsfc.co.uk/shop/cart.pl

Community host Ravenshead looking to make amends for a narrow 1 - 0 defeat in the reverse fixture only a few weeks ago. Ravenshead are currently sitting second in the Notts Senior League Division One and only need two wins to secure promotion to the Premier Division.

Graham Furnell said:
“We go into this fixture with real confidence on the back of a real good run of form keeping us fifth in the table and the ambition and desire to finish as high up the table as we can.

“We will also have a few selection headaches to mull over with a couple of players returning from injury as the youngsters who have stepped up in their absence in recent weeks have certainly done themselves justice when called upon.

“That being said we would much rather have this dilemma knowing whatever line up we put out are more than capable of securing the points certainly at home where we have a good record suffering only two losses this season.

“Any supporters not travelling with the First team to South Shields are more than welcome to come down and cheer us on. The kitchen and bar will be open to cater for all your refreshment needs."
