It was two points dropped another lack lustre performance in the U19 Youth Alliance league.
Basford started the game really well and could have taken the lead in the early stages after some desperate defending by the away side.
Both Nyall Hylton and Will Bown had efforts blocked on the line but then despite some good spells of possession Basford never really threatened the Rushden goal. They did take the lead on 30 minutes after excellent work down the right from Patrick Shipston resulted in his shot being deflected into the net via a Rushden defender. HT 1-0 Basford
Once again game management proved crucial as straight from the re-start Basford failed to clear their lines properly from the resulting corner Rushden bundled the ball in from close range. A minute into the second half it was 1-1.
Both sides tried in vain to get the winner but Basford just lacked the cutting edge in the final third and have now not won in the last four games. There is still lots to play for and hard work on the training ground will hopefully turn the team's fortunes round soon.
